May Crowning

At St. Dismas our children, who have just received their First Communion, have the privilege of crowning the Statue of our Lady after the 11:00 AM Mass, on Mother's Day. They wear their First Communion clothing, carry the crown on a pillow and process to the Altar and our Lady's statue. Each child carries a rose to present to their own mother after the crowning ceremony.

Prayer Blanket Ministry

is a new ministry which reaches out to our parishioners who are ill or facing difficulties.

A group of our parish women meets each month to pray for and prepare fleece lap blankets (similar to Prayer Shawls) for those who are ill, facing surgery or difficulties, whether physical, emotional or mental.

Blankets may be requested from the Rectory at any time. A letter from our pastor, Father Rugen, accompanies each of the blankets as well as a copy of the prayer prayed by those who prepare the blankets and a prayer for those receiving the blankets.

Blankets are bessed at Mass or by Father Rugen, as needed. The name of the person for whom the blanket is requested i written in our Book of Prayer Blanket Ministry and may also be included in the buletin parish prayer list, if desired.

Donations of one yard (for each prayer blanket) of new fleece or checks, cash, or even gift cards to JoAnn Fabrics so that we can continue this ministry are greatly appreciated. Donations may be dropped off or mailed to the rectory.
