Fund-Raising Events

Rummage Sales:  Two sales are held annually, in the spring and in the fall.  Items can only be dropped off at church during the week before each sale.

Holiday Bazaar:  Takes place in November offering many booths, raffles, activities for children, and a fabulous dinner.

Soup and Salad:  This March event raises funds for transportation to our Senior Luncheon for residents of Terrace Nursing Home.

Social Events

Staff Celebrations:  Receptions for staff members to celebrate important events such as jubilees and retirement.

Travel Trips:  The Women's Club invites parishioners and others in the community to share in various social outings.  Details are announced in the Parish Bulletin as available.

Christmas Luncheon:  Takes place in early December in place of a regular meeting.

Installation Luncheon:  Occurs in June each year.

This organization is open to all women of the parish.  It is a member of Vacariate I of the Archdiocesan Council of Catholic Women (ACCW) and a member of the National Council of Catholic Women (NCCW).  In addition, many of our members are also members of Catholic Women's Club of Lake County.  Meetings for St. Dismas Women's Club, which consist of a short business session and refreshments, are held in Hunter Hall on the 3rd Thursday of the month from September through May.  This group sponsors many fund-raising events for the parish, commjunity service, and social events.

The Women's Club also supports organizations within the community to benefit and assist those who share our Christian beliefs.  These organizations include:  the Caring Outreach (anti-abortion), Waukegan Area Church Women United, Waukegan Food Share, Midwest Veterams Closet in North Chicago, and Women's Shelters.

Community Service

Giving Tree:  Parishioners are invited to purchase specific gifts for residents of local residential facilities and nursing homes.  Names are available in late November.

Women's Shelters:  Each year donations are collected in February for local shelters.  Suggested items include toiletries and paper goods.

Easter Baskets for Veterans:  Easter Baskets are assembled at the March meeting and taken to Midwest Veterans Closet who distibutes baskets from multiple sources on Holy Thursday to veterans in the VA homeless shelter, nursing home, and hospital.  Socks, toiletries and word puzzle books are popular donations.

Senior Luncheon:  Each June, Seniors of the parish are provided a free lunch and Bingo.  Transportation is provided for the residents of Terrace Nursing Home.  Prizes donated for Bingo are appreiciated.

Funeral Luncheons:  Arrangements are made through the Rectory by the family.  Luncheons are held in Hunter Hall.
